01-Jan-2009 – Site editors
Happy New Year! As promised in mid December, we've given more people site editor access. Two regular users have been promoted: Tim and Pineapple, who have distinguished themselves as helpful contributors in the past. Also, all our moderators have now been given site editor access: Lil McGinley, Anna Molly, Hitman and Mangleman. Due to unforeseen bugs in the item and monster databases, these members do not have the ability to edit those areas yet, but as soon as those areas are ready, they will have full access to edit and add site content. In the meantime, they can edit all other guides, where there's plenty of work to do.
Of course, this is only the beginning - many more updates are planned for 2009 and we will need more site editors in the near future! Site editors will be picked based on their contributions to the site and helpful, friendly members will have a higher chance of getting this position!

Hello everyone, just to let you know that this year's christmas quest, Myths of the White Lands, has been added.
Explorer Jack may have taken a break from exploring, but he hasn't given up his old habits quite yet. His constant search for myths that could potentially hold secrets to rare trinkets and other trophies has led him to a passing snow imp, who told him a tale of riches in the distant Land of Snow. Just the task for any wannabe explorer! He now wants you to go and investigate the imp's story to discover if it holds any truth...

Hello all. As you may have noticed, I've been very inactive lately, and as a result of this, there have been very few site updates. Due to personal issues I've been unable to work on Global RuneScape the last few months, and I won't be able to do much on the site until December 17th-18th. However, there are many important updates in the pipeline.
Unlike previous updates, these updates all have one primary goal: to involve many more people in the main site by giving members the ability to add and edit guides and database entries. This requires some very important changes to ensure the security of all visitors and avoid malicious edits. Some features related to this are:
Obviously, it is also very important that editors can edit the content easily, otherwise they won't be bothered to do anything. Unfortunately, the current system isn't very effective nor user friendly. To edit something, one must login to an administration panel (with a login separate from the forum login) and edit everything in an admin panel that doesn't even look like the rest of the site. It would obviously be much easier to just click an "edit" button when you view a guide or database entry, and then be able to edit it if you're already logged in to the site/forum.
These features are all in progress, and most of them are almost ready. Some need more testing, so I have given two regular members the ability to edit guides and the item database: Syntax Error and Death. Both have been very active for a while and have also had access to the administration control panel for a few months. Thes are now being moved to the "Site editors" group, which hopefully will grow in the future.
I'm planning to give all staff members and users who have been contributing to the site the same ability as these two members after the updates described in this post. And since people obviously are wondering when all this is going to happen, here's a deadline I've set for myself: January 1st 2009. There's still a lot to do, but we really need these updates if we want to expand the site and keep existing guides and databases updated. The sooner, the better.

Hello all! We've just added a quest guide to help you in the latest quest, All Fired Up.
Over the years, the kingdoms of Asgarnia and Misthalin have become increasingly uncomfortable about the possibility of threats from the Wilderness and Morytania. King Roald has taken matters into his own hands and has commissioned a network of beacons to be built across the land, from the Temple of Paterdomus at the border of Morytania, along the northern borders of Misthalin and Asgarnia and up along the western border of the Wilderness. The communication network is already in place, but King Roald could use a little help making sure everything is ready to go, in the event of emergency....
